Kiln shelves, while essential for firing, can sometimes have minor imperfections. These are a natural part of the manufacturing process and typically don’t affect the shelf’s performance.Some common imperfections you might see include:

Minor warping: A slight bend or curve in the shelf.

Small surface cracks: Tiny, hairline cracks that don’t compromise the shelf’s integrity.

Pitting or indentations: Small depressions on the surface.

Scratches or scuff marks: Surface-level marks from handling or manufacturing.
Important Disclaimer
Kiln shelves are industrial products, and minor cosmetic imperfections are common and expected. These are not considered defects and will not impact the shelf’s functionality. Both sides of a kiln shelf are not guaranteed to be perfectly smooth or flawless.
The good news is that most cosmetic flaws can be easily fixed. If you notice any minor bumps or rough spots, you can use a fine-grit sandpaper (around 400 grit) to gently smooth the surface. Afterward, a quick wipe with a damp sponge will remove any dust. We recommend coating your shelves with a quality kiln wash to protect them, which also helps to fill in and smooth over small imperfections.
