Kiln shelves, while essential for firing, can sometimes have minor imperfections. These are a natural part of the manufacturing process and typically don’t affect the shelf’s performance.

Kiln shelves are industrial products, and minor cosmetic imperfections are common and expected. These are not considered defects and will not impact the shelf’s functionality. Both sides of a kiln shelf are not guaranteed to be perfectly smooth or flawless.

The good news is that most cosmetic flaws can be easily fixed. If you notice any minor bumps or rough spots, you can use a fine-grit sandpaper (around 400 grit) to gently smooth the surface. Afterward, a quick wipe with a damp sponge will remove any dust. We recommend coating your shelves with a quality kiln wash to protect them, which also helps to fill in and smooth over small imperfections.
