Product Description

Oval kilns are designed for large workloads and unusual shapes that do not fit in a cylindrical or square-shaped kiln. Olympic Oval models are built with 3” brick and include a 2″ blank brick row in the first section of the kiln to protect the elements during loading and unloading.

Oval models are built with the Olympic-proven electrical box design, which has heat shields with top and bottom perforations to keep the electrical components cool. Balanced heating elements ensure even heating of the firing chamber under all firing conditions. Oval kilns come equipped with a pilot light, a metal stand, a stainless steel jacket, a lid lift assist, and a Bartlett KilnStar digital controller.

One-year Limited Kiln Warranty for cone 10 models.

Upgrade to the Genesis touchscreen controller for more ramp-hold user programs and additional features, including delay start, preheat, cone offset, skip-step, and more, for precise firings every time. Messages and information are available for reviewing a firing profile before or during the firing, viewing the current segment the firing is in, and using the cone table for easy lookup of temperature and cone number equivalents. Other options include a Type S thermocouple, 480-volt operation, 2- or 3-zone control, a vent, and much more! Solid-state relays are an available option. 

Furniture kits are available for the oval electric kilns, including three layers of shelving, kiln wash, and large square posts in assorted sizes.

Key Information

As an option, you can upgrade to the Genesis Controller, a modern and intuitive user platform with touch-screen technology for an effortless user interface. It can store up to 12 custom user programs with up to 32 segments per program and has the ability to make adjustment during a firing such as add segments, add temperature, and skip segments. Additionally, the easy-to-follow screen descriptions and graphical display of the firing process, allow the Genesis controller to make firing kilns extremely straightforward.

During operation, the VentMaster Downdraft Vent System keeps the kiln under a slight negative pressure. This pulls the fumes out of the kiln and pulls in a small amount of fresh air. Firing times are essentially the same. The fumes are exhausted directly into a duct system and removed from the kiln room. Improved airflow in the kiln results in more uniform temperatures, reducing hot and cold spots.

The 2018HE is also equipped with its own breaker box for easy access, safety and lockout.

Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?      

Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced.  Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years.  Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times.  Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced.  You will notice that solid-state relays are silent.  The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.  So, this factory upgrade saves you potential down time from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself.  We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.
