Product Description

Oval kilns are designed for large workloads and unusual shapes that do not fit in a cylindrical or square shape kiln.  Olympic Oval models are built with 3” brick and have a 2" blank brick row in the first section of the kiln to protect the elements when loading and unloading the kiln. 

Oval models are built with Olympic’s proven electrical box design which has heat shields with top and bottom perforations to keep the electrical components cool, and balanced heating elements insure even heating of the firing chamber under all firing conditions.

As an option, you can upgrade to the Genesis Controller, a modern and intuitive user platform with touch-screen technology for an effortless user interface. It can store up to 12 custom user programs with up to 32 segments per program and has the ability to make adjustment during a firing such as add segments, add temperature, and skip segments. Additionally, the easy-to-follow screen descriptions and graphical display of the firing process, allow the Genesis controller to make firing kilns extremely straightforward. Interested in learning more? Download and read this manual here and help you find out what more this controller can do for you.

Key Information

Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?      

Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced.  Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years.  Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times.  Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced.  You will notice that solid-state relays are silent.  The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.  So, this factory upgrade saves you potential downtime from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself.  We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.
